Celebrating MPP’s Two Years

On December 3, 2010, in Democratic Visions, by tommy

Jeff Strate just sent the following note and graphic to the readers and writers of MPP, via email!

“As Minnesota Progressive Project celebrates its second anniversary, the Democratic Visions team hails MPP’s service to progressive thought, comment and action. Many, many thanks.”

Well, thank YOU, Jeff!

IMNSHO, Democratic Visions has become the best locally-produced political television talk show in Minnesota – due to the power of dedicated volunteers and the progressive movement. Democratic Visions is a once-a-month program and a production of DFL Senate District 42 (Eden Prairie & MInnetonka). It’s filmed at Comcast’s Southwest Community Television studio in Eden Prairie.

Joe Bodell and I (MPP) and The Cucking Stool’s Steve Timmer are featured on the current edition of Democratic Visions. Producer Jeff Strate and the Dem Vis crew make us look great on large flat screen TVs. (disclaimer-I’m the deisgnated go-fer “an associate producer”). This edition will only be re-broadcast for another 3 or 4 times before the holidays begin. Check Democratic Visions out on cable TV at the following times and channels:

Comcast Channel 15 – Hopkins, Minnetonka, Edina, Richfield and Eden Prairie Sundays at 9 p.m. and Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.

Bloomington Cable Channel 16 – on Tuesdays at 2:00 p.m. & 10:00 p.m., Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m.

MTN Channel 17- Minneapolis Sundays at 7 p.m.

Democratic Visions can be seen 24/7 on its YouTube Cnannel at http://www.youtube.com/user/DemocraticVisions.

Ladies and Gentlemen, yours truly – the ol’ TwoPutter – is hosting tonight’s “Nancy Nelson Show” on AM-950 KTNF, The Progressive Talk Station! The show runs from 5:00 to 6pm. So, tune in your radio today to AM-950, or listen live on your computer, here.

I’ll be talking about, and asking listeners to call in about, particularly egregious examples of Republicans behaving badly during this election cycle. In particular, I’ll be singling out Republican State Representative Mary Kiffmeyer.

Here’s the artwork that once adorned a wall at Kiffmeyer’s failed bank; I call it “Jesus At The Closing Table”:

(more details here)

I’ll also be joined by Spot from The Cucking Stool to talk about his video series “Standing on the Brink of Insurrection and Treason.” You thought GOPers were crazy? Wait’ll you here Spot discussing “Tenther” Tom Emmer’s thoughts!!!

We’ll also play “False Or False Witness!” where one lucky caller will have to correctly identify if a quote I read was actually uttered by Michele Bachmann (answer “False Witness!”) or if yours truly, the ol’ TwoPutter, simply made it up (answer “false”). The fabulous prize awarded, courtesy of show sponsor Common Good Books, is one copy of Bill Prendergast’s exceptional comic book: False Witness! The Michele Bachmann Story (Volume 3)!

So, again, tune in the radio today to AM-950, or listen live on your computer, here.

On October 16th, I asked several fellow veterans about a comment the Republican Candidate for Governor in Minnesota – Tom Emmer – said to the Marshall Independent newspaper on 9/26/09. That quote by Emmer – “I don’t believe you can be a freedom-loving American and be a Democrat” was not widely reported in the allegedly “liberal” mainstream media.

This video documents a few Veterans responses to Emmer saying, essentially, that Democrats, even military veterans, can’t be real patriots.

I’d like to remind everyone that on 07 April 1775, Samuel Johnson said that “Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.”

On 26 September 2009, Republican Candidate for Governor Tom Emmer demonstrated that he indeed is a scoundrel.

I paid for this with my dime. It’s not not approved by any candidate nor is any candidate responsible for it. It’s my deal and my deal only. Let’s look!

The full show features former gubernatorial candidate Margaret Anderson Kelliher and national TV legend/current AM 950 KTNF radio host Nancy Nelson.

Without further ado, here’s the sneak preview of me, the ol’ TwoPutter – let’s look!

Meahwhile, Erik Hare will be joining yours truly, the ol’ TwoPutter, tomorrow (Saturday, May 15th) as I Guest Host “Radio Cafe with Cathy Hauser” from 2:00 to 3:00 pm on AM950 – KTNF. We’ll be talking about Professor Frankfurt’s book (“On Bullsh*t”), Erik’s post over at Barataria, this post (and the subsequent comments!), the media’s role in propagating/covering BS, and how BS seems to be the modus operandi of today’s Republican Party.

For more on the media’s role on propagating BS, check out this post, over at The Cucking Stool.

We’ll be giving away one copy of “False Witness! The Michele Bachmann Story (Volume 1), to one lucky listener — courtesy of AM-950 KTNF sponsor Common Good Books – so, pay attention and call in when asked!!!

With the DFL State Convention in Duluth only a week away, I’d like to remind our gentle readers about“Democratic Visions” and some of the guest we’ve had on; many of which will be in Duluth. The program airs in Hopkins, Minnetonka, Edina, Richfield and Eden Prairie on Sundays at 9:00 pm and Wednesdays at 5:30 pm on Channel 15; I’m the Assistant to the Ass’t Caddy Master, and Chief Range Ball Picker Executive Producer.

We’ve had many of the Gubernatorial Candidates on the show; from Steve Kelley to Tom Rukavina and RT Rybak and Matt Entenza and Mark Dayton and John Marty here and here and Paul Thissen. We’ve asked them all; for some, scheduling just never permitted.

For a preview of the next Democratic Visions – due to premier this Sunday – featuring Senator John Marty (again!), link here.

So as people consider who to support for Governor, especially the 45% (+/-) of Uncommitted Delegates, take a look at ALL of the candidates above. The quick link to Democratic Visions is here.

As Senate District Conventions are over, and we head into Congressional District Conventions, followed by the DFL State Convention, I thought this would be a good opportunity to remind readers of the Cable Access TV program produced by volunteers in DFL SD-42, “Democratic Visions”.

We’ve had some great guests on the show, from Minnetonka Council Member Amber Greves to Senator Al Franken (and, Franni, too!). A particularly riveting guest was State Public Defender John Stuart, discussing the challenges confronting Minnesota’s court system prompted by cuts to the number of public defenders; another segment honored the 10th anniversary of the death of state legislator Willard Munger, Minnesota’s “Mr. Environment.”

And we’ve had many of the Gubernatorial Candidates on the show; from Steve Kelley to Tom Rukavina and RT Rybak and Matt Entenza and Mark Dayton and John Marty here and here and Paul Thissen. We’ve asked them all; for some, scheduling just never permitted.

So as people consider who to support for Governor, especially the 45% (+/-) of Uncommitted Delegates, take a look at ALL of the candidates above. The quick link to Democratic Visions is here.

The new show starts tomorrow; it features State Auditor Rebecca Otto, Minnetonka City Council Member James Hiller, and yours truly, the ol’ TwoPutter. YouTubes of that new show are below the fold; let’s look!!!

In case you missed last night’s “Minnesota Matters – Wednesday Edition” on AM-950 KTNF, you can listen to it, here! IMNSHO, it was a fascinating conversation, and I’d like to thank Toni and Colonel Joe for sharing their thoughts and answering questions!

One of the highights were both Tomi Backdahl, State Coordinator of the Minnesota Tea Party, and LTC (Ret.) Joe Repya clearly repudiating and distancing themselves from the following quotes:

_ Tom Emmer quote: “I don’t think you can call yourself a freedom-loving American and be a Democrat.” Marshall Independent, Sept 2009

_ Tim Pawlenty quote: “Children who are victims of failed personal responsibility are not my problem, nor are they the problem for our government.” — Majority Leader Tim Pawlenty, April 2001 – as quoted in the Aitkin Independent Newspaper

During the first segment, we played “False Or False Witness!” where one lucky caller (“Bill” from Mpls) correctly identified that the quote I read actually was uttered by Michele Bachmann (“Bill” answered: “False Witness!”). The fabulous prize Bill won, courtesy of show sponsor Common Good Books, was one copy of Bill Prendergast’s exceptional comic book: “False Witness! The Michele Bachmann Story (Volume 3)”!!!

The Bachmann MotorMouth Overdrive quote I read, is below the fold!

And one question we asked Toni, State Coordinator for the Minnesota Tea Party Patriots was submitted via comment here, on MPP – here’s that question!

I’d ask….

If the Tea Party guy actually realized the real Tea Partiers were protesting a tax CUT. The tea partiers were actually protesting the take over by a multi-national corporation, the British East India company. The tax cut made tea super cheap, allowing the British East India (Walmart) the ability to undercut all the American merchants.

So, I would ask the Tea Party guy if he is just as afraid of the corporate take over of America as he is of the government take over.

Thanks,
Alec

Well, thank YOU for submitting that question, Alec!!!

Also, LTC (Ret.) Joe Repya discussed his candidacy for Governor, and clarified that there is a big difference between “suspend” and “end” – and for the record, Colonel Repya has “suspended” his campaign.

So again, if you missed it, you can still listen to it, by linking here!

Al from Minneapolis won the “False Or False Witness!” game; here was the quote:

“And this is one of the very happy days that we have, when we can bring some federal money to a great project that’s been in in the works…wait….I know enough not to fight with a dump truck. He wins every time. This is one of the very happiest days that we have, when we can go ahead and add some sweetener to the pot to try and do something really good.” Michele Bachmann on August 25, 2009 bringing federal money to build more hangers and expand the airport in Paynesville

And you can watch Bachmann MotorMouth Overdrive say it – let’s look!!!

That was the scene at the entrance to last Saturday’s MnGOP Convention. Dusty Trice, noted and intrepid blogger and my “go to” in-the-field reporter for my radio show, has video – it’s beyond the fold.

A little background (as I’ve written about here and here and here):

Lieutenant Colonel Joe Repya was so disgusted by the (s)election of FEC Tony and MudSlingerMike (a/k/a, “The MSM”), that he published an op/ed in the PiPress on the reasons he was leaving the Republican Party, now led by FEC Tony and MudSlinger Mike (a/k/a, “The MSM”). While that Op/Ed is no longer available on the PiPress website, comments on that Op/Ed are. Nathan Hansen, GOP Deputy Chair of CD-4, did comment – here’s what he had to say:

I am Deputy Chair of the Fourth Congressional District and one of the newer anti-war Republican activists. It’s difficult for words to describe how happy I am that you are leaving our Party. The roots of your “neconservative” philosophy lie in Straussian Trotzkyite Communism. “Corporate money” influencing our Party? Nothing compared to the damage your military industrial complex (that Eisenhower warned us about) has wreaked on our Party and our Country.

I hope you will find a happy home among your fellow communists. Your days of endless illegal wars and military industrial complex domination of our party are over.
Obama is ramping up his War in Afghanistan and continues to illegally bomb Pakistan. Perhaps you can join him to satiate your bloodlust. (emphasis added) (PiPress)

That’s comment number 15 from the link, above.

Well, there’s a lot – a LOT – of veterans of the Viet Nam War that remember being greeted none-to-nicely, upon arriving “home.” Some of ‘em remember bein’ spit on – yes, literally SPIT ON – upon arriving home from rice paddys. And Nathan Hansen’s comments reminded them exactly of that – reminded them of bein’ SPIT ON.

As written before, how did ol’ FEC Tony handle Nathan Hansen figuratively spitting on Lieutenant Colonel Joe Repya in particular, and all – ALL – veterans in general?

Well, again – as I wrote: GOPer Party Official Trashes Veteran Joe Repya And Is Rewarded.

And that “reward” was a prestigeous committee chair assignment at last Saturday’s GOP Convention.

Now, to be fair, it should be noted that prior to the GOP Convention, Nathan Hansen did a non-apology apology.

Yeah, “right.”

That “Me-a Not-a Culpa” was B as in “Bull” and S as in “(stuff)” then and it still is now. Nathan Hansen may have apologized to veterans at the GOP Convention, but as of this writing, he still hasn’t apologized to Lieutenant Colonel Joe Repya, and he still has his B as in “Bull” and S as in “(stuff)” law suits going against veterans Joe Salmon and Richard Glasgow.

Which, of course, leads to the following conclusion: somehow, I don’t think Nathan Hansen’s ties to FEC Tony and MudSlingerMike (a/k/a “The MSM”) are going to be forgotten anytime soon.

Oh – and Dusty Trice’s video, of the Veterans protesting the MN GOP? Let’s look!!!

Say, Michael? You never served, nor did Nathan. Well, neither did ol’ FEC Tony, neither. Here’s something y’all should know: veterans got long memories.

Last Friday night (Sept. 25th), yours truly – the ol’ TwoPutter – hosted the Friday Edition of AM-950′s Minnesota Matters radio show (you can listen to the archive, here). On it, co-host Brian Falldin issued a challenge:
